rfp-robotRFP ROBOT: Website Request for Proposal Generator

The time has come for a new website (or website redesign), which means you need to write a website request for proposal or web RFP. A Google search produces a few examples, but they vary wildly and don’t seem to speak really to your goals for developing or redesigning a new website. You need to write a website RFP that will clearly articulate your needs and generate responses from the best website designers and developers out there. But how?

Have no fear, RFP Robot is here. He will walk you through a step-by-step process to help you work through the details of your project and create a PDF formatted website design RFP that will provide the information vendors need to write an accurate bid. RFP Robot will tell you what info you should include, point out pitfalls, and give examples.

Serenity Creek Medspa

With over 10 million surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed in the US last year, and nonsurgical procedures making up 85% of the 10 million, it’s easy to see the rising popularity of cosmetic procedures performed at medical spas in the US. And with numerous medical spas popping up all over Austin, Serenity Creek Medspa wanted a website and brand identity that set them apart from everyone else. Serenity Creek Medspa is a new luxury resort medical spa in Austin, TX that provides cutting edge, nonsurgical spa treatments with less in-patient time. Pixeldust worked with Serenity Creek to responsive design and develop a unique identity and website that would welcome potential patients, drive local business and assure confidentiality for procedures. Austin Humane Society

With over 3,000 pets placed a year, it’s safe to say that the Austin Humane Society’s dog-and-cat operation has given thousands of new best friends over the years. They receive an astonishing 32,000 visitors each year while more than 600 volunteers work tirelessly to find good pet homes, educate the community and raise money for the organization. But austinhumanesociety.org did not reflect the shelter’s whimsical tenants or provide the high-level functionality needed to engage users and establish a digital presence. And while AHS excelled at animal placement and man power, they lacked the interactive stature to reach adopters online. It’s a Ruff World Out There Pixeldust put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the development of austinhumanesociety.org. Since Door Number 3 provided the design, we got to work building an easy-to-use website that would ultimately serve to drive adoptions, improve fundraising and increase the number of donors and volunteers. AHS…

Gattis Pizza

Pixeldust put a lot of digital mojo into gattisjingle.com. Utilizing a musician’s flyer feel, we designed and developed a clean microsite that would ultimately serve as a bridge for the 40th anniversary, remind Austinites that Gatti’s started in Austin, and generate excitement and interest among new and existing customers. And they wanted to conquer social media. With over 140+ stores throughout Texas, the South and Midwest, it’s not a stretch to assume Gatti’s pizza is a strong contender in the pizza industry. The Gatti’s chain of restaurants reflects a fun family atmosphere that fills you up and entertains you at the same time. But Gatti’s long-time advertising jingle no longer captivated customers. And on the eve of their 40th anniversary, Gatti’s decided to hold a jingle competition with a $10,000 grand prize and let their fans speak for the company. All the Toppings Pixeldust built a website that allows users and…

Pioneer Surgical

In an industry worth more than $14 billion and still growing, it’s safe to say that the orthopedic surgical instrument and implant industry isn’t slowing down any time soon. In fact, it’s projected to gross nearly $22 billion in 2012, almost doubling in revenue in just one year. And for nearly 20 years, Pioneer Surgical has grown alongside it. Founded in 1992 in the garage of a local surgeon, Pioneer has since expanded into more than 300 employees worldwide. Their strong commitment to innovation has resulted in over 130 U.S. and foreign patents and kept them at the forefront of spinal and orthopedic surgical solutions. But with all of their growth and innovative breakthroughs, Pioneer did not have a way to distribute important product information to customers online. Count back from 100 Pioneer wanted a distributor website that would correlate with their existing website and provide important surgical equipment information…

Cactus Cafe

For more than 30 years, the Cactus Cafe has been the soul of live acoustic music in Austin. A local gem in a sea of music tranquility, Cactus Cafe provides a unique, intimate experience that both artists and audiences are unlikely to find anywhere else. It’s a rare place that showcases music in the way that every true fan hopes to experience their favorite artist: live, up close and personal. It’s a place where audiences can savor the music they love. But cactuscafe.org did not provide any information about the venue or give customers any indication of the awesomeness they were about to experience. And while Cactus Cafe’s word-of mouth reputation has reached every corner of Austin, they lacked the ability to connect with artists and customers online. Sound Check Cactus Cafe wanted their website to establish their interactive presence while maintaining their street cred. With site design provided by…

My Fit Foods

Challenge With more than one third of adults overweight in the US, it’s easy to see why the weight loss industry is booming. And while many diet food companies claim to offer healthy food that tastes great, most customers are usually left feeling unsatisfied, disconnected and reaching the end of a Doritos bag. But My Fit Foods has taken a different approach. Founded in the apartment kitchen of personal trainer Mario Mendez in 2006, My Fit Foods offers healthy pre-packaged meals for customers who lead busy lifestyles in over 70 stores throughout Texas, Arizona and California. When they approached us, myfitfoods.com did not reflect the company’s earthy, easy-going nature or provide the high-level functionality needed to engage users and showcase their superior menu. And while MFF had mastered tasty food and community spirit, they lacked the interactive usability for customers to create meal plans and purchase meals online. My Fit…

Audiotoniq

With over 36 million Americans experiencing some degree of hearing loss every year, it’s surprising that the hearing aid industry isn’t congested with more products. Plagued by limited availability and high prices, the hearing aid industry once offered little hope to those who suffer from all four degrees of hearing loss. In 2009, a group of engineers and entrepreneurs in Austin decided to fight back with an unconventional and advanced hearing option that could drastically improve the quality of consumers’ every day lives. Audiotoniq was born, and all they needed was a website. Say what now? Audiotoniq wanted a website that would identify their organization and create a strong community through user engagement. Pixeldust got to work designing and developing a clean, responsive website that would establish Audiotoniq, emphasize user involvement, and provide precise and accurate information on hearing loss in America. Audiotoniq wanted their website to tell people who they…

ABRAMS

Abrams Learning Trends

Challenge Abrams wanted to redefine their product organization in such a way where product updates were streamlined, and product relationships were dynamically displayed within the site. Solution With hundreds of products sold both individually and in bundles, and related to one another through various, often hierarchical categorizations, making sense of the Abrams product catalog was a major piece of this project. Both the client and Pixeldust worked closely together to build a sustainable product structure that met both the client’s organizational and update wishes, and fit neatly into Drupal’s capabilities. We broke down our problem-solving approach into: 1) Organization, 2) Product Updates, and 3) Product Relationship Display. 1) Organization We pinpointed the product relationships that mattered to the client as: categorization through normal taxonomy tags. categorization through hierarchical taxonomy tags, where one item may belong to several tags within the same hierarchical taxonomy. parent – child relationships: whether or not the…

The University of Texas

Challenge The University of Texas wanted to merge the Giving and Campaign sites into one comprehensive site that housed all the different schools of education and fundraising initiatives. The UT Capital Campaign is an eight-year, $3 billion comprehensive campaign to support The University of Texas’ goal to become the best public university in the nation and take their academic programs and research endeavors to the next level. The UT Giving site offers alumni and all other benefactors the opportunity to make a donation to any department within the university system. While both sites existed separately from one another, they lacked the fluidity to easily go back and forth between them. Solution Since UT provided the design, Pixeldust got to work building a flexible, content-manageable site that would drive donations, reach out to potential donors and support each of UT’s fundraising platforms. Built on a WordPress platform, The University of Texas…
