rfp-robotRFP ROBOT: Website Request for Proposal Generator

The time has come for a new website (or website redesign), which means you need to write a website request for proposal or web RFP. A Google search produces a few examples, but they vary wildly and don’t seem to speak really to your goals for developing or redesigning a new website. You need to write a website RFP that will clearly articulate your needs and generate responses from the best website designers and developers out there. But how?

Have no fear, RFP Robot is here. He will walk you through a step-by-step process to help you work through the details of your project and create a PDF formatted website design RFP that will provide the information vendors need to write an accurate bid. RFP Robot will tell you what info you should include, point out pitfalls, and give examples.

Acquia a leader in 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management

I’m on vacation this week, and I’ve been trying to disconnect and soak up time with my family. However, I had to make an exception to write a quick but exciting blog post, as Acquia was named a leader in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management. This marks Acquia’s placement as a leader for the fourth year in a row, solidifying our position as one of the top three vendors in Gartner’s report. Acquia recognized as a top 3 leader, next to Adobe and Sitecore, in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management.Early in my career I didn’t fully understand or value the role of industry analysts like Gartner. Experience has taught me that strong analyst reports provide credibility and expose vendors to new markets and customers. It’s easy to underestimate the importance of this kind of recognition for Acquia, and by extension for Drupal.…

5 Reasons Not to Require Composer in Your CMS

Some people love Composer.  They use it to build their PHP projects and manage all the external libraries and dependencies. They love it so much they say things like this: “Composer should be the only way to build a Drupal code base.” That approach is misguided, and I’m going to give you 5 reasons why. Composer is a great tool, but it’s far more limited than some people realize. I’m going to mostly write about Drupal in this blog post, because it is further down the Composer path than any other CMS. But, some platforms like Magento and Typo3 are headed that way too.  [[ This is a content summary only. Save Your Facebook Ad Budget with these 7 Behavioral Targeting Tricks

Average ads aren’t ideal. No one’s happy with sloppy creative. But on Facebook, they’re not a deal killer. Instead, your targeting is. It’s the beginning and the end. The single biggest determining factor that influences results. Which then includes what you’re going to pay, too. Here are 7 behavioral targeting tricks to use with your Facebook ad campaigns. But first, a quick primer on the types of behavior we’re going to target. A Behavioral Targeting Primer: Explicit vs. Implicit Intent Behavioral targeting is exactly what it sounds like. Campaigns, emails, or ads are triggered based on a customer’s action. That could be on your site, or away from it. On Facebook, or off of it. The trick is the funnel. It’s knowing where someone is and what they’re trying to do so that you can organize, trigger, and target appropriately. Like marketing automation. Someone downloads an eBook. Then you slowly start…

After Years of Decline, Magento is Spending and Growing

A couple of years ago, Magento appeared to be a dying platform lost inside eBay’s corporate ownership. The software was being poorly developed, and their approach to security releases was absolutely awful. Community members were worried. In 2017, things are very different. Magento was sold to a private equity company, and then Magento 2 was released after several years of delays. On the back of those changes, they raised $250 million. That money is burning a hole in their pocket. Their CEO publicly announced an acquisition spree, and recent purchases include: RJMetrics, an e-commerce analytics platform, which is now “Magento Business Intelligence Essentials”. Shopial, which turns your store into a Facebook shop. This will be used in a new service called “Magento Social”. Bluefoot, a Page Builder module, which Magento plans to add to the core. 5 Personalization Hacks that Fly Under the Radar

There’s no doubt. No questioning or debate necessary. Every marketer is trying to personalize. It’s seen as THE trend by most. And yet, results vary. Some still struggle. Slapping on trite $FNAME or $COMPANY wherever possible. Then there’s others setting the bar. Setting the tone. The difference is nuanced. You can’t always see it in front of you when you click on an ad or visit a landing page. But you can feel it. It’s there. And it’s undeniable. Some of the most sophisticated marketing today segment customer bases; delivering real-time personalization to each individual – without them even realizing it. Here’s five examples of what they’re doing, how they’re doing it, and you can do it, too. 1. Content vs. Web Personalization Type in http://Amazon.com and what do you see? It’s not generic. Or static. But a list of recommended products. And a list of suggestions based on past…

Just Another HTTPS Nudge

I was strongly reminded about the scariness of non-secure websites the other day. I’m using Xfinity as an internet service provider, and they give you a device that is both a cable modem and a router. Here’s a tiny bit of backstory. I use a VPN, and I discovered that in using their modem directly, the VPN wouldn’t work. I’m not sure why. I didn’t dig into it very far, because I have a modem of my own I’d prefer to use. So I plugged that in, which worked… but not particularly well. The connection was spotty and slow, even right in my own house. I think (maybe?) it was competing WiFi signals from the two routers sitting right next to each other. Don’t quote me on that. The reason I think that is because, fortunately, I was able to turn off the router on the Xfinity device, and that…
