rfp-robotRFP ROBOT: Website Request for Proposal Generator

The time has come for a new website (or website redesign), which means you need to write a website request for proposal or web RFP. A Google search produces a few examples, but they vary wildly and don’t seem to speak really to your goals for developing or redesigning a new website. You need to write a website RFP that will clearly articulate your needs and generate responses from the best website designers and developers out there. But how?

Have no fear, RFP Robot is here. He will walk you through a step-by-step process to help you work through the details of your project and create a PDF formatted website design RFP that will provide the information vendors need to write an accurate bid. RFP Robot will tell you what info you should include, point out pitfalls, and give examples.

Pixeldust one of ABJ 2009 Top Web Designers

Pixeldust Interactive was listed in the Austin Business Journal’s annual list of top Drupal Web Design firms in Austin for the third year in a row. This year Pixeldust moved up from number 18 to number 12. The list is determined by a number of factors including gross revenue, clients and number of local employees.

SureScore

Pixeldust implemented a thorough redesign to revitalize the existing SureScore website. Pixeldust designed and developed a fresh user interface, updated all graphics, incorporated video and Flash, and installed a WordPress Content Management System to provide an educational, interactive experience.

Pixeldust Wins Trio of Addy Awards

Pixeldust and Nice Monster won three bronze awards in the 2009 Austin ADDYs for creative work on the Nice Monster website.

International Johnson Controls Website Launches

Pixeldust has announced the launch of the 2008 Business and Sustainability Report site for Johnson Controls. Utilizing Drupal, Pixeldust launched the site in 12 languages and created a custom PDF generator for each language. Users can build and download their own custom 2008 Business and Sustainability Report as well as view the custom Flash Map in each language. Pixeldust collaborated with partner Really Really Big Industries, Inc. of Chicago to develop the site in under six weeks.

Broken Records Taps Pixeldust to Develop New Identity

Broken Records, a Spicewood, TX, record label and recording studio, has selected Pixeldust as its lead digital agency for all Drupal web development needs. Pixeldust will design and develop the brand identity and website for both the record label and recording studio. The website will feature Broken Records artists and showcase the state-of-the-art recording studio currently under production. Pixeldust will also develop a highly interactive 3d animation to help introduce the brand.

Gatti’s Pizza

Pixeldust put a lot of digital mojo into gattisjingle.com. Utilizing a musician’s flyer feel, we designed and developed a clean microsite that would ultimately serve as a bridge for the 40th anniversary, remind Austinites that Gatti’s started in Austin, and generate excitement and interest among new and existing customers. And they wanted to conquer social media.

Why Do I Care What Somebody Had For Breakfast?

Twitter seems to be everywhere these days. In fact, it was mentioned so many times in one week that Joel McHale and the people at the Soup on E! made a video compilation of references with Joel calling Twitter “the digital macarena.” Like it or not, Twitter and the rest of the social media sites and applications have transformed the Internet and every other traditional form of marketing known to mankind for the last 70 years. And Twitter can transform you.

Gatti’s Jingle Campaign Microsite Launches

Pixeldust and Nice Monster launched a microsite for Gatti’s web-based jingle contest. Gatti’s, a rapidly-expanding, long-time Texas pizza chain, is looking to update their current jingle with a public music contest. Pixeldust and Nice Monster built the web application for users and musicians to upload their music and videos for the contest. Submissions will be judged by regular users and a panel of Gatti’s judges. The winning jingle will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and media exposure, and be featured in Gatti’s end-of-contest concert.

Cielo Wind Power Launches

Pixeldust has announced the launch of the newly refreshed Cielo Wind Power website. Having built the original site over 10 years ago, Pixeldust was pleased with Cielo’s emphatic response regarding the site’s performance and aesthetics over the years. For Cielo Wind Power version 2.0, Pixeldust performed a complete overhaul by updating the interface, incorporating video and creating image galleries to accentuate Cielo’s growth over time. Pixeldust designed and developed a fresh, earthy look and feel to capture the heart of Cielo’s environmentally-friendly appeal.

Artifacts of Existence

Artifacts of Existence is a collection of work by David Brown featuring a non-fiction novel, screenplay and ‘inside Hollywood’ documentary. Pixeldust designed and developed an earthy site that would help him release his work on the web. The site also features free downloads of work from local artists.

Mattress Pro

Pixeldust’s challenge was to build an elegant and scalable site giving Mattress Pro an equal presence to Sealy and other large mattress manufacturers. Pixeldust designed a brand-new identity and sleek interface that incorporated Flash and a content management system. The overall result proved to be a huge success: the website played a big role in Mattress Pro’s successful merger negotiations with Mattress Firm.

It’s OK to be pragmatic (with a little help from the “crazy ones”)

Being pragmatic is engrained in me. I’m at my best being practical and boring. This has mostly been a good thing for me.I’m good at weighing options and making decisions. Strategic and tactical planning come very naturally to me. I use my time wisely and like shipping. But it also comes with some pretty big trade-offs.I’m not a visionary or a dreamer, so it’s difficult for me to inspire others. I’m not great at conceptualizing ideas without a concrete goal in mind. I struggle to break from established conventions. In Steve Jobs’ words, I’m definitely not one of “The Crazy Ones”.Here’s the problem — experience has taught me that you’ll never do your best work through sheer pragmatism alone.https://medium.com/media/6fb8ec294921316f24c5cb6b02985e5d/hrefWhat you’re good at and what’s good for you aren’t always the same thing. The incremental, risk-averse nature of being pragmatic can be good for many aspects day to day of work. But to make long-term, deep progress in your professional growth, you need to…

Instagram and Depression

This doesn’t surprise me one single bit (via MIT): Your mental health is reflected in the images you choose to post on social media, say researchers who have trained a machine to spot depression on Instagram. And this shouldn’t either: The researchers found that depressed individuals tend to post images that are bluer, grayer, and darker, and receive fewer likes, than those posted by heathy individuals. So, what’s the point? I think the last sentence nails it: And that will provide hope that mental illness can be accurately detected earlier, allowing for more effective intervention. If we can all do a better job of observing the behavior of others, especially those most close to us and those that we care about, we can better serve their needs and give them the encouragement and support that they need the most. The missing ingredient, though, isn’t technology mind you; it’s courage. It’s…
