Austin Drupal developers are a strange mix of the two: a city hipster and a cyber world dweeb. Party, drink, and grub down with this strange breed of developers at Tech Lover’s Karaoke Night or Drupal Drop-In. Austin’s thriving technology community knows to show fellow nerds a good time at Drupal developer events and on 6th Street. 2. Urbanspoon It happens to all of us: you’re hungry, but can’t really decide what to eat. Or you want to try something new, but don’t want to pay for a bad meal. Luckily, your phone can help. Urbanspoon is a restaurant app designed to help you decide where to eat. Presented as a slot machine widget, Urbanspoon reads your location, lets you pick the type of food you’re looking for, and then tells you to shake your iPhone for a restaurant pick. Not happy with the results? Shake it again. Results can be filtered by neighborhood, cuisine, price, distance, popularity, no chains and the meal you’re looking for. Urbanspoon also provides reviews from bloggers, newspapers and other users.

And they wanted to conquer social media.
Artifacts of Existence is a collection of work by David Brown featuring a non-fiction novel, screenplay and ‘inside Hollywood’ documentary. Pixeldust designed and developed an earthy site that would help him release his work on the web. The site also features free downloads of work from local artists.

Pixeldust designed a brand-new identity and sleek interface that incorporated Flash and a content management system. The overall result proved to be a huge success: the website played a big role in Mattress Pro’s successful merger negotiations with Mattress Firm.

These days, you can do virtually anything on your mobile device. If you’ve ever been standing in a crowd of people, heard one of the generic iPhone ringers go off and watched about 14 different people pull out their cell phone, then you know what I’m talking about. Nielsen estimates that there are over 160 million smartphone users in the US. 160+.million.people. All surfing the web, and all probably playing Angry Birds. And that number is only going to get bigger.
