rfp-robotRFP ROBOT: Website Request for Proposal Generator

The time has come for a new website (or website redesign), which means you need to write a website request for proposal or web RFP. A Google search produces a few examples, but they vary wildly and don’t seem to speak really to your goals for developing or redesigning a new website. You need to write a website RFP that will clearly articulate your needs and generate responses from the best website designers and developers out there. But how?

Have no fear, RFP Robot is here. He will walk you through a step-by-step process to help you work through the details of your project and create a PDF formatted website design RFP that will provide the information vendors need to write an accurate bid. RFP Robot will tell you what info you should include, point out pitfalls, and give examples.

Everything You Need to Know About Facebook Groups

How many Facebook Groups are you in right now? I bet most of you wouldn’t know the exact number and couldn’t list off every single one. I know I couldn’t. You know what else I’d bet money on? That there are a few groups that you’d be able to think of immediately. Those that offer Read more Source: https://adespresso.com/feed/

Getting Ahead of Consumer Expectations (WHITE PAPER)

Customer expectations of brands have changed pretty dramatically in recent years. While speedy email response time or a polite voice on the other end of the phone were once the trademarks of good service, customers now want a more empathetic experience – one that values their time, anticipates their needs, and feels seamless regardless of where they are in the buying or service cycle. Facebook Leads Ads: The Definitive Guide

Anytime someone discusses online marketing, the conversation almost always turns towards lead generation; which ironically is also the point where most people start hearing white noise and start tuning out. Although the term lead generation can sound quite dry and monotonous, it’s actually one of the most important parts of your digital advertising funnel. So, Read more Source: https://adespresso.com/feed/

When You Need to Get Down to Work: The 5 Second Rule

I’d love my clients to think I have a super-human ability to get down to work and churn out amazing copy. However, the truth my students need to know is that I absolutely do not have that super-human ability, and I often find it just as hard to get focused and sit down to work as anyone. And because I know I face this challenge—and because I get the questions about it from students all the time—I’m on a regular quest to find ways to overcome procrastination and lock in motivation. But you know what I’ve recently discovered? Motivation doesn’t work. Or, as coach and speaker Mel Robbins says, “Motivation is complete garbage.” I’d been hearing about Mel Robbins’ work for a while, but when I stumbled across her book “The 5 Second Rule” and its bevy of five-star Amazon reviews, I was intrigued. To be honest, though, I almost…

Building a Simple API with Amazon Lambda and Zappa

We recently had a client come to us with a request for a simple serverless API. They wanted little to no administrative overhead, so we went with the AWS Lambda service. It was my first foray with Lambda, and getting it set up came with its fair share of headaches. If you’re starting down the same path and want to build a simple API with Lambda, here’s a tutorial to help. Github If you would rather go through the tutorial on github, you can find it here AWS Lambda This is a great service offered by AWS that allows users to run a serverless application or function. It’s a cloud-based, serverless architecture that comes with continuous scaling out of the box. Deploy your code, and AWS does the rest. It will only run when “triggered,” either by another AWS service, or an HTTP call. It’s relatively young and has room…

How to Identify Goals for Digital Project Success [Video]

Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here? That depends a good deal on where you want to get to… — Alice in Wonderland Source: https://www.phase2technology.com/feed/

Drupal is Good?

Before joining Viget I built websites on Drupal for Congressmen and Fortune 500 companies. Those websites were good, and they’re visited by millions of people. I’ve been to Drupal Cons, I’ve been to Drupal meet-ups, and I’ve given presentations on Drupal topics. I wouldn’t have a career as a developer without Drupal, but I wouldn’t recommend Drupal. “So if not Drupal, then what?” It depends. Anyone who says they know the solution before they know the problem is lying, wrong, or guessing. At Viget, we can figure out what the best solution is to a problem. That solution may be a static website, a solution with Contentful, a Craft site, a custom-built CMS, or something we haven’t thought of yet. It depends on the project. We’ve written about this before. We have come up with reasons to go off-the-shelf or to go custom-built. We have compared off-the-shelf CMS’s and we…

How to Mess Up a Call with a Prospective Client

Just a few days ago, I was on one of the worst sales call I’ve ever been on. But, let me clarify: This guy was trying to sell me on a solution. And he was terrible. Periodically, I’ll watch webinars and hop on sales calls to see what kind of new information is out there. I’m not an omniscient marketer; I know there’s always more to learn, and there’s always information I can pass along to our students. So I got on this call. And things got really awkward, really fast. But let me backtrack a bit. It’s highly likely that you’ll have to spend at least some time with each client on the phone. And each phone call before you land the work is, in essence, a sales call. You’re on the phone with the end goal of getting them to hire you for work. (I’d also argue that any…

Understand Brain Chemistry And Create Your Dream Team [Podcast]

We’ve all been on teams where we marvel at the amount of cohesion and productivity. You know, the type of gelling where you are knocking it out of the park and 3 people are seemingly doing the work of 5. And then we’ve all been on teams where we can’t quite figure out why, but no matter how hard we try, we can’t reach that level of harmony. The personalities just don’t seem to be in sync with ours, the perspectives not in alignment, and nearly every action item on your collective to-do list seems to be a battle of wills. Does Social Pain Really Work for Customer Retention?

We’re taught that positivity breeds positivity. “Believe in yourself” wouldn’t be a popular saying if people thought that negativity leads to success. But negative emotions can also drive people to positive actions. In many cases, negative emotions can be more powerful motivators than happiness and love. That’s only, however, if they’re used correctly. Overdo it, Read more Source: https://adespresso.com/feed/

Introducing Microcosm: Our Data Layer For React

One of my favorite things about working in client-services is the interval with which we start new work. As a React shop, this means we build a lot of new apps from the ground up. Along the way, we’ve distilled what we’ve learned and baked it into a tool that I, finally, want to talk about. Microcosm is our general purpose tool for keeping React apps organized. We use it to work with application state, split large projects into manageable chunks, and as the guiding star for our application architecture. Before I go too much further: check it out the project on Github! In this post, I’ll provide a high level overview of Microcosm and some of the features I find particularly valuable. At a glance Microcosm was born out of the Flux mindset. From there it draws similar pieces: Actions Actions are a general abstraction for performing a job.…
