Pixeldust designed and developed a Flash-based user interface for Sun Microsystems’ sales force training collateral. As a follow-on project, Pixeldust was asked to design a set of product icons for Sun’s new xVM software line. The product icons were designed using Maya, a very powerful 3D imaging software program used primarily for special effects in movies, modeling objects and characters in video games. Following the success of the project, Pixeldust was invited to become a Sun design partner.
Sun Microsystems develops the technologies that power the global marketplace. Guided by a singular vision — The Network is the Computer — Sun Microsystems’ products include computer servers and workstations based on its own SPARC processors as well as AMD’s Opteron and Intel’s Xeon processors; storage systems; and, a suite of software products including the Solaris Operating System, developer tools, Web infrastructure software, and identity management applications. Other technologies include the Java platform, MySQL and NFS. Sun is a proponent of open systems in general and Unix in particular, and a major contributor to open source software.
